2. Flight Reservations

  • Airline Policies: Refundability is contingent upon the class of ticket purchased (e.g., Non-Refundable Basic Economy vs. Refundable Flexible Business Class).

  • 24-Hour Rule: For eligible flights, cancellations made within 24 hours of booking may be eligible for a full refund, following the specific airline's guidelines.

  • No-Shows: If you do not show up for a flight, the ticket is designated as a "No-Show" by the airline and is typically 100% non-refundable.

3. Hotel & Accommodation Reservations

  • No Extra Fees: We do not impose any additional hidden cancellation charges beyond what the airline, hotel, or car rental provider applies.

6. Refund Processing Times

  • Once a refund has been authorized by the travel provider, we will initiate the refund to your original payment method right away.

  • Standard Timeline: Due to typical banking operations and global payment gateway protocols, please allow 7 to 14 business days for the funds to appear on your credit card or bank statement.

7. Force Majeure & Unforeseen Circumstances

We are not responsible for refunds, compensation, or damages arising from travel disruptions caused by events outside our control. This includes, but is not limited to, natural disasters, extreme weather conditions, government travel restrictions, strikes, or pandemics. In such cases, refunds are governed entirely by the emergency carrier policies.

All bookings are subject to the specific terms, conditions, and tariffs of our third-party travel service providers (Airlines, Hotels, and Car Rental Agencies). However, for all itineraries touching the United States and Canada, we strictly honor and enforce consumer protection mandates established by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) and the Canadian Transportation Agency (CTA) under the Air Passenger Protection Regulations (APPR).

1. The Mandatory 24-Hour Cancellation Rule (U.S. & Canada Itineraries)

In compliance with U.S. DOT and Canadian consumer protection rules, for any flight ticket purchased through our platform where the itinerary includes a U.S. or Canadian airport:

  • Full Refund Eligibility: You are entitled to cancel your reservation and receive a 100% full refund within 24 hours of booking, provided the reservation was made at least seven (7) days (168 hours) prior to the flight’s scheduled departure.

  • Waiver of Fees: If these criteria are met, your refund will include a full return of the base fare, taxes, and our platform's service charge.

2. U.S. DOT Mandated Cash Refunds for Cancellations & Significant Changes

If your flight originates from, connects through, or terminates at a U.S. airport, you are legally entitled to a full refund back to your original payment method (rather than travel vouchers) under the following conditions, regardless of whether you purchased a "Non-Refundable" ticket:

  • Cancelled Flights: The operating airline cancels the flight for any reason, and you choose not to accept alternative travel arrangements or rebooking.

  • Significant Schedule Changes: The airline shifts your departure or arrival time significantly (defined under federal rules as a change of more than 3 hours for domestic U.S. flights or more than 6 hours for international flights).

  • Changes to Service: The airline changes your arrival or departure airport, adds an extra connecting stop to your journey, downgrades your cabin class, or switches your aircraft to an accommodation less accessible for individuals with disabilities.

  • Unused Ancillary Fees: You paid for optional services (such as checked baggage, seat selection, or Wi-Fi connectivity) through our platform but were unable to utilize them due to flight disruptions, cancellations, or a change in aircraft.

3. Canadian Air Passenger Protection Regulations (APPR) Mandates

For all flights to, from, and within Canada, refunds and flight disruptions are classified under Canadian law based on carrier control:

  • Disruptions Within Carrier Control: If a flight is cancelled or delayed by more than 3 hours for reasons within the airline's control (including structural maintenance), and the airline cannot rebook you on an alternative flight leaving within 48 hours of your original departure, you are legally entitled to a full cash refund.

  • Disruptions Outside Carrier Control: For disruptions caused by severe weather or safety emergencies, refundability is governed by the operating airline's specific tariff filings.

  • Right to Cash: Under the APPR, if you choose a refund over rebooking due to a major disruption within airline control, the refund must be paid in cash, check, or direct payment gateway reversal. Vouchers may only be issued if you explicitly consent to them in writing.

4. Hotel and Car Rental Policies

  • No Statutory 24-Hour Rule: Unlike aviation law, hotels and car rental agencies in the US and Canada are not legally required to offer a 24-hour free cancellation window.

  • Contractual Terms: Cancellation terms are strictly governed by the specific property or rental tier selected at checkout. Non-refundable promotional bookings are legally binding and cannot be refunded.

5. Intermediary Status and Limitation of Liability

cheapotravelplanner.com acts strictly as a sales agent and intermediary broker for independent third-party travel suppliers. We do not own, manage, operate, or control any airline, hotel, resort, or vehicle rental fleet.

Consequently, the Company shall not be held liable or financially responsible for any personal injury, property damage, financial loss, accident, delay, inconvenience, or irregularity caused by the acts, omissions, bankruptcies, or defaults of any third-party travel supplier. Your sole legal recourse for service failures or schedule disruptions lies directly with the operating carrier or hospitality provider under their respective public tariffs and service contracts.

6. Platform Service Charges & Processing Deadlines

  • Transparency of Fees: cheapotravelplanner.com charges a fixed, minimum service fee of $25.00 USD at the time of purchase. Except for cancellations processed under the statutory 24-Hour Rule, this platform service fee is completely non-refundable, as it covers the electronic booking fulfillment and software infrastructure cost.

  • Legal Processing Timelines: In strict compliance with federal rules, once a refund is authorized by an airline or vendor, we will transmit the refund request to your credit card issuer within seven (7) business days for credit card purchases, or within twenty (20) business days for cash or check payments.

7. Governing Law

These terms, conditions, and legal policies shall be governed by, construed, and enforced in accordance with the laws of United States & Canada, without giving effect to any principles of conflicts of law. Any legal disputes arising from transactions on this platform shall be handled exclusively within the jurisdiction of the courts of Delaware USA.
